To face the demands of an ever-growing marketplace, a certain popular fast-food chain developed what they considered a “miracle” feed for their cattle. It caused the cattle to grow larger, their meat to taste better and even to be more nutritious. It flew through drug trials, and the resulting meat was deemed safe for human consumption. When the burgers hit the market people were thrilled. Better tasting, cheaper burgers that were better for you? People that hadn’t eaten fast food in years would at least try one, it was estimated that in the three months they were on the market, a third of the US population had tried them.
After three months the side-effects started to show: women began getting clearer skin as fat began to redistribute causing some swelling in the hips and bust, meanwhile men experienced a loss of body hair as their appearances became more androgenous. Next women began changes in their skeletal structure accompanied by experience massive swelling in the breasts (usually swelling to melon or in rare instances head-sized) and hips, while men began to experience a loss of body hair and for many an extreme reduction in penis size.
After this point women’s breasts started to heavily lactate while their libido spiked, combined with how pleasurable producing milk felt for them, many spent the next phase masturbating while milking themselves. Soon after tails began to emerge from the base of the spine, nipples began to slightly lengthen when aroused, a second pair of breasts grew, horns formed from their temples from the top of the head, ears flattened and grew out and fur emerged on both their tail and ears. Curiously during this time their muscle fibers increased in density, so while their build rarely changed, became leagues stronger while the vast majority of effected males experienced a realignment of their sexual organs becoming biologically female.
After they recovered from their physical changes, the mental changes began to appear. The affected (now called “cowgirls”) start to show an aversion to clothing (with many not able to stand more than a bikini) and start to strongly enjoy the presence of other cowgirls, usually developing a sexual attraction to each other (as well as females in general) while combined with libidos that exceeded those that they had prior to the beginning of their transformation. A change in attitude also hit with the cowgirls becoming more docile and submissive, not only letting themselves be “herded” around, but many will admit to kind of enjoy it. This tendency towards docile submission meant that many never realize just how strong a cowgirl can be, as they usually only showed their strength if asked to or provoked (as some who tried to take advantage of a herd… especially their calves) learned the hard way.
The restaurant chain’s corporate law firm in question likes to remind people that these changes only occurred with 0.5% of customers. But with over three-hundred million people eating the burgers, that means there are still nearly two-million cowgirls in the world. They’ve formed their own groups, their own customs (such as drinking one another’s milk being seen as polite when offered), and in a few places even their own small communities. The changes aren’t uniform either with rare cases of men (or women) appeared to grow with their muscles gaining a foot or two in height becoming four-breasted amazonians with bull-like horns and as well as fully-functional hermaphrodites.
While this was going on Jacob was overseas with his company setting up their new headquarters and was stuck while the airports decided to quarantine the US to prevent the spread of contraband food or additives that might be smuggled into their country. He knew via email that his girlfriend Christine had moved back in with her family while he was away, and when he arrived, he found that they (as well as a fair few of their neighbors) had transformed into a herd of cowgirls. While this impromptu harem situation- one that includes both his former perspective mother-in-law & father-in-law (now as female as their wife and daughter) each looking ten-years-younger and they along with their neighbors looking at Jacob as the herd’s new potential breeder a position that Christine actively tries to persuade him to pursue, granted many of her neighbors in the herd remain cautious about him as an outside male.
Unfortunately for Jacob, Stacy (a girl that Christine had ‘experimented’ back in high school) has also arrived back in town as an amazonian, hermaphroditic, bull and looking to coax Christine into the herd that she has been building. Will Jacob properly woo Christine’s herd, or will Stacy succeed in adding Christine to their own growing herd of amorous bovinesque beauties? For that matter, will Jacob dare to try rolling the dice with the additive themselves?

I have a few thoughts and potential aspects of the story that you might want to consider.
I want to put forth hooved feet in place of human feet as part of this, as another physical trait suggestion maybe have former males, the male bulls and Stacy all have slightly different style horns where that can tell someone whether the cowgirl in front of them used to be male at a glance.
The insert of Stacy as a herm at the end after you did the layout of the effects seems like a last minute insert.
Might be better to make it that in most localized cases a bull tends to emerge as the herd leader, either a male becoming it or in some cases like Stacy a female becomes a herm. Might want to make them the one exception to the docile aspect of the change.
You don’t state it but I suppose that the milk they produce has the same transformative effects as the burgers did? Or does it have a higher effect rate or different odds of change. Do the cowgirls have any urge to expand the herd via their potentially tainted milk? Does herms milk or other bodily fluids have different effects from the cowgirls?
If you going to shut down the airports that would only make sense if they are trying to prevent those who may be at an early enough transformation stage from getting into the country. As commercial and cargo flights are completely separate enterprises. It might be worth having him be forced to take sea transport, where authorities could observe passengers long enough to be sure no one is infected, as a means of getting home. That gives you the time delay you may want.
I suppose Stacy would have been in the country the whole time, given if she was out of the country it would raise questions on how she was readmitted as well as got her hands on the tainted burgers. I suppose your plan is to either play it up that she’s that focused on Christine she hoofed it from her own hometown a few states away or maybe came here looking to take over leadership of this herd after potentially losing out on control of one back where she came from. Or maybe she was under observation for the whole time as a rare case as a herm and only now released by the scientists into the community.
Not sure drinking each others milk counts as a custom or that they would emerge in a couple of months. Definitely go with the community bit, that can play into both the herd mentality and perhaps the government sequestering them away from the general population also contributing to those communities developing. As such Jacob could find Christine in the country, perhaps the government coverts an old abandoned mine town into a place to house the cowgirls in the general area.
Thoughts on potentially rolling this into the Bessy acres storyline? Its not that dissimilar and I think you could do it and still keep most of the core concepts.
For example, Jacob gets home to the city from a long stint of his job as a trucker, finds that Christine his longtime girlfriend went out camping and never came back. He goes looking for her, and finds her at the farm, a cowgirl, in the midst of an orgy. Once he gets her attention he gets the story, turns she and her friends got drunk decided to try cow tipping and made quite a bit of damage on the farm they are now working to pay off. There is an opening for a farm hand so Jacob decides to help them pay off their debt. All the while Stacy perhaps a permanent staff member keeps trying to convince Christine to sign up with the farm permanently. Jacob is then left advocating for them to go home once the debt is paid, all the while being tempted by the prospect of settling down, no more long days alone on the road and enjoying his girlfriends new assets.
I am thinking that the hooves might be a bit much, plus if we went with the hooves why not go full cow-based female satyr you know? Yeah, Stacy’s character was a bit of a last second edition to the rest of the story that happened as I was writing down the rest to give a reason to add tension. Maybe bull horns would make sense on the herms along with the height and the visible muscles. As for on the former males, I am considering limiting the bull horns to the herms, this makes for an added shock for Jacob when he figures out that some of the women in the same herd with Christine and her parents are people that he knew as men. No, the milk doesn’t have any transformative effects, but I am considering having their raw milk having aphrodisiac effects- effects that are more pronounced among normal people.
The commercial traffic that Jacob was caught up in was suspended by the country that he was in until they accepted that the tainted beef was destroyed and the cowgirls (and bulls were not contagious or inherently dangerous. No, the government is not actively sequestering the cowgirls, they are doing that themselves as they feel more comfortable in herds. In fact, many of the cowgirls insist on keeping their old jobs, just with a few accommodations that must be taken with the dress code (due to the bikini situation) and the fact that they frequently need to milk themselves at least twice a day. So, while I would understand the potential of a Bessy’s Acres inclusion, considering in that story there is an antidote makes eliminates the tension of this being something that Jacob will have to adjust to as a permanent status quo with his girlfriend. Besides the comedy of a cowgirl doing a 9-to-5 in an office wearing a corporate casual patterned bikini. needing a milking break and possibly being reprimanded for being found making out with another cowgirl (or a female coworker who sampled their raw milk) in the supply cabinet.
As for a herm bull’s fluids having effects on cowgirls- no, but unattached cowgirls might feel themselves drawn to them by an instinct. As for why Stacy is coming after Christine now- I would say that now that they have gotten used to being a herm bull they are going through their little black book and tracking down their old flames to see if they have transformed and are building a herd of now former ex’s, but they were slowed by the fact that they would have to convince a cowgirl to leave their family’s herd.
Personally I always like the idea of hooves, it can provide that tension in a chase or hiding scenario where he can hear the hoof falls of his death by snu-snu approaching. Or a bit of comedy in the ladies commenting it’s like they are always wearing high heels they can’t take off, or lamenting on how they had to get rid of all of their shoes that no longer fit and now wear ones that have to be nailed on.
I like horns as something for the man to grab onto during certain carnal acts, and having that as a sign of which busty cowgirls used to be guys having to be something the lead has to consider and deal with could be fun but I suppose having that hidden by not doing it also has its own appeal.
So part of this tale will be them trying to maintain their old jobs despite their transformation and not just becoming milk cows. That could be doable for remote work, but you already have them potentially moving to form herds in what I assumed would be the countryside or would this be more that the herd taking over an apartment complex in the city where they retrofit the apartments to have built in industrial milk pumps that feed into a storage tank in the basement sort of thing.
If the milk is safe to drink I imagine a number of dairy farms will be in danger of going out of business with the new competition, if the cow girls are still that focused on work I imagine at least one of them would try turning their milk production into a business.
Not sure forming a herd basically on the road would work, is that what Stacy is doing, traveling in say a motorhome with the girls she’s collected thus far with plans to settle them all down somewhere once she reaches whatever maximum number she has in mind. Or is she traveling alone while the herd she’s collected mind the house while she’s out, that seems like asking for them to decamp due to sexual neglect or be taken by another male / herd leader in her absence.
Would it be a better tension situation where Stacy is already lead bull of the herd and Jacob first has to deal with her hostility towards him for trying to perhaps break Christian away from the herd and then realizing he can’t do that debate challenging Stacy for leadership to the herd. Christian perhaps could be untouched by Stacy because she’s saving her for last or something where you have that as the ticking clock of Stacy working her way down the hall towards her for servicing or waiting for her to be in heat to breed.
